Wayne is 1-7 against Honeoye Falls-Lima since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Honeoye Falls-Lima took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wayne, who comes in off a win.
Wayne took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Palmyra-Macedon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Red Raiders 10-9 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Aidan Twist made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Wayne's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kahlen Clark, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Grasso, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, while it was Honeoye Falls-Lima who put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, it was Aquinas Institute who put up more. The Cougars lost 9-3 to the Little Irish. The Cougars have struggled against the Little Irish recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Honeoye Falls-Lima also got a good showing from Nate Meacham, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meacham has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Jacob Weber was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Carson Meehan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Wayne's record now sits at 7-5. As for Honeoye Falls-Lima, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Wayne couldn't quite get it done against Honeoye Falls-Lima in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
