Baseball Recap: Elbert County Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Elbert County won the last time they faced Lincoln County and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Elbert County Blue Devils walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Lincoln County Red Devils.

Sam Amabile was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Alex Higginbotham looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brycin Hughes, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylan Brown, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Elbert County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Lincoln County dropped their record down to 9-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elbert County will head out to square off against Providence Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Providence Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Elbert County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lincoln County, they will venture away from home to face off against Lake Oconee Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
