This season hasn't been kind to the Caldwell Bluejays, who are still winless after their fourth game. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oxford on Saturday. Caldwell has not had much luck with Oxford recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Caldwell saw an underclassman step up: Ella Risley scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds. Risley scored a full 45.9% of Caldwell's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payten Stevenson, who scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds.
Caldwell's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Oxford, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caldwell will take on Conway Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxford's road trip will continue as they head out to face Pretty Prairie at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Pretty Prairie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Monday.
