Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask York Institute). Everything went their way against the Monterey Wildcats on Monday as the York Institute Dragons made off with a 68-48 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dragons as it put an end to their 14-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Despite the defeat, Monterey saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tanner Brown posted 19 points. The game was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Fowler, who put up ten points.
York Institute's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Monterey, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
York Institute has already played their next matchup (against Stone Memorial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Monterey wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 86-38 defeat against Jackson County on the 28th.
