Vega and Farwell are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Vega Longhorns will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Farwell Steers at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Vega posted their biggest win since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Bovina with a sharp 55-32 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Vega has posted against Bovina since January 12, 2021.
Meanwhile, Farwell can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Boys Ranch 67-21 at home. The win was familiar territory for Farwell who now have nine in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farwell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landri Richey, who scored 14 points along with five assists and four steals. Richey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Chloee Whitten was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Vega pushed their record up to 11-16 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Farwell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.
Vega was dealt a bruising 86-28 loss at the hands of Farwell in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Vega was down 50-9.
