Softball Recap: Independence Finds Playoff Glory Versus Massaponax

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Independence had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Massaponax Panthers. The result was nothing new for Independence, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Andraya Santos was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Anisten Shehadi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Independence's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-6. As for Massaponax, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.

Looking ahead, Independence will take on Lightridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bolts' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Independence's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Massaponax does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
