Puyallup and Sumner are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2016, but not for long. The Vikings will take on the Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Puyallup knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Sumner likes a good challenge.

Those three rushing touchdowns gave Akuffo a new career-high. Puyallup also got help from Jayden Woodland, who showed off his sure hands for 110 receiving yards.
Puyallup didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jasiah Denmark.
Meanwhile, Sumner faced Glacier Peak in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Spartans enjoyed a cozy 34-17 victory over the Grizzlies. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won seven contests in a row.
Puyallup better keep an eye on Lance McGee. He was instrumental in Sumner's win, rushing for 185 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 41 receiving yards. McGee is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braylon Pope, who gained 69 total yards and a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sumner was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 278 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 228 rushing yards in ten consecutive matchups.
Puyallup's record is now 12-0. As for Sumner, their record now sits at 9-3.
Saturday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Briytan Bailey and McGee. Bailey just won't slow down this season and has run in 23 touchdowns while averaging 133.8 rushing yards per game. McGee has been a dominant force too and has run in 31 touchdowns while averaging 148.8 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Puyallup against Sumner in their previous matchup back in October, as the squad secured a 58-22 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was McGee, who rushed for 89 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Vikings still be able to contain McGee? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
