Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Cousino's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

While Cousino put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Redford Union. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Payton Hewitt and Davi Wieczorek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hewitt tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wieczorek pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hewitt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Hewitt got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Wieczorek went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.

In other batting news, Haley Neal was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Blase, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Cousino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .875. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cousino is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Redford Union, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14-1.

Coming up, Cousino will take on Clawson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Redford Union, they will challenge Garden City at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
