The Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk will head out on the road to take on the Wayland Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Innovation Academy has five straight victories, Wayland has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Monday, Innovation Academy didn't have too much trouble with Cristo Rey at home as they won 63-46. Innovation Academy pushed the score to 54-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Cristo Rey cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Derrick Twum, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Twum is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 18 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Ogbeide, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wayland had to suffer through a rough 83-48 loss at the hands of Waltham. While losing is never fun, Wayland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Waltham is ranked 21st).
Innovation Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Wayland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
