Holmes took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Pasquotank County as they made off with a 15-5 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Aces needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Ainsley Parrish was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Gabrielle Provencher was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Holmes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Camden County's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let Hertford County get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Effie Drew was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lila Meredith, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Julia Doppler also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Camden County's record is now 10-5. As for Holmes, they moved to 8-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Camden County's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Holmes has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Camden County, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Holmes keep running through batters, or will the Bruins buck the trend?
Holmes couldn't quite finish off Camden County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Aces avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
