Wickenburg kicked off their season on the road  on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against  the Phoenix Christian Cougars, falling  19-11. Sadly, the  defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.
 Maleigh Colvin was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out ten batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and 12 unearned) runs off   six  hits. Those  ten  strikeouts gave  her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double.

 In other batting news,  Tylee Buchert made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went a perfect 4-for-4 with three  runs, one  triple,  and one  double. The dominant performance gave  her a new career-high in  hits. Another player making a difference was  Brynlee Meister, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 Even though they lost, Wickenburg was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Phoenix Christian only posted a  batting average of  .296.
 Wickenburg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  match,  a  15-2  loss against Kingman on the 28th. As for Phoenix Christian, they have also  already played their next contest,  a  25-0  win against Tempe Prep on the 3rd.
