The Mater Dei Knights had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 57-47 victory over Highland on Tuesday. For Mater Dei, this counts as revenge for the 49-36 defeat Highland walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Mater Dei's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Lampe led the charge by scoring 23 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lampe has scored at least 25% of Mater Dei's points. Another player making a difference was Garrick Winkeler, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Mater Dei pushed their record up to 3-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Highland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Mater Dei will be playing at home against Pinckneyville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to face off against Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jersey and Highland are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
