The La Porte Slicers pushed their score all the way to 64 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Chesterton by a score of 67-64. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for La Porte in their matchups with Chesterton: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Slicers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Griffin Ott-large, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Ott-large continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Nic Spence was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
La Porte has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Chesterton, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
La Porte will be playing in front of their home fans against Michigan City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chesterton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hobart at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. The timing is sure in Hobart's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Chesterton has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
