Verrado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Desert Edge Scorpions. One positive for the Vipers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Aniyah Benn was nothing short of spectacular for Desert Edge: she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Benn continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Shadai Wilson was another key player, putting up eight points along with 13 boards and five steals.
Verrado's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Desert Edge, with the win, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Verrado will host Lake Havasu at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Desert Edge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Paradise Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
