The Tombstone Yellow Jackets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past Valley Union with points to spare, taking the game 40-24. Given Tombstone's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Valley Union is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Rachel Thursby, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Rivera, who scored seven points.
Tombstone is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Valley Union, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Tombstone and Amphitheater will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Amphitheater is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Valley Union, they will face off against Benson at 3:40 p.m. on Friday. Benson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.6 points per game.
