Irmo is 0-8 against the Falcons since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Irmo Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the A.C. Flora Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Irmo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Irmo ended up a good deal behind the Blazers and lost 54-35. While losing is never fun, Irmo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Blazers are ranked 20th).
Despite the loss, Irmo had strong showings from Claire Howard, who scored 14 points along with four blocks, and Abby Livingston, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, A.C. Flora can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Richland Northeast as A.C. Flora made off with a 64-42 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for A.C. Flora.
It was another big night for Terriana Gray, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Skylar McCray, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Irmo's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for A.C. Flora, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Irmo have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like A.C. Flora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Irmo suffered a grim 55-30 defeat to the Falcons in their previous meeting back in January. Can Irmo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
