The California City Ravens were the 67-49 winner over the Desert Scorpions when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. California City fell to Desert 56-52. California City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, California City saw an underclassman step up: Darrius Brown scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Brown has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Avery 'Skywalker' Spears was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds.
California City's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-9. As for Desert, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. California City will take on Frazier Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Frazier Mountain comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Desert, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kern Valley at 7:00 p.m. Kern Valley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
