The Cibola Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Sandia Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cibola is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Cibola took a serious blow against Cleveland, falling 61-7. While losing is never fun, Cibola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Cleveland is ranked third).
Meanwhile, after some red-hot offensive attacks in their last four games, Sandia finally came back down to earth on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 51-0 loss at the hands of La Cueva.
The losses dropped Cibola to 0-9 and Sandia to 7-2.
Cibola came up short against Sandia in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 40-34. Thankfully for Cibola, Gauge Berlint (who rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
