The St. Amant Gators are taking a road trip to challenge the Brusly Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Amant's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Brusly's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
St. Amant couldn't beat Dutchtown on Tuesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the third inning. The Gators fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 12-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Gators, who until this matchup were averaging 3.93 runs allowed.
Brooke Rabalais made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Ducote, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brusly faced Destrehan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Panthers fell just short of the Fighting Wildcats by a score of 5-4. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Abigail Heidbrink was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tinley Loupe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Fabre, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
St. Amant's record is now 23-6. As for Brusly, their record now sits at 21-6.
St. Amant got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2021 against Brusly by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Gators repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
