Gridley dropped down to 4-4 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took  a  29-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheatland Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  19-15  back in September.
As for Wheatland, the  victory was  the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6. Those  wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.8 points on average over those games.
 A big part of Wheatland's  victory came down to the chemistry between  Ashtynne Agarenzo and her top target  Jordan Hill. Agarenzo threw for 227 yards and three  touchdowns while  Hill picked up 85 receiving yards and a pair of  TDs. What's more,  Hill posted two  receiving touchdowns, the most she's  had since back in August.
 Looking ahead, Gridley will host Mira Loma  at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Wheatland, they will venture away from home to  challenge Colfax  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least 31  points  in their last five matchups.
