Valor Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 80-59 to the Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers. Valor Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sun Valley Magnet apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Valor Academy still got an impressive performance from Maliqq Van Arsdale, who went 9 of 19 en route to 24 points and six boards. That was a full 40.7% of Valor Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Cezar Jr Guanzon, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Valor Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Sun Valley Magnet, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.

Valor Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 89-25 defeat against Bishop Alemany on the 18th. As for Sun Valley Magnet, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Magnolia Science Academy Reseda at 5:00 p.m.
