West Carteret is a perfect 10-0 against White Oak since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Patriots will square off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. West Carteret's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so White Oak's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
West Carteret is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Ocracoke 20-0 on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Parker Davenport looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Lincoln Strump was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Luke Jones, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, White Oak hadn't done well against Swansboro recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Pirates 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
White Oak saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Watson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Brandon Brandt also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
West Carteret pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for White Oak, their record now sits at 7-10.
West Carteret was able to grind out a solid victory over White Oak when the teams last played on April 1st, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
