Red Mountain is 8-2 against Desert Ridge since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Red Mountain Mountain Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Desert Ridge Jaguars at 11:00 a.m. Red Mountain will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Red Mountain barely beat Pinnacle the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Red Mountain's way against Pinnacle on Wednesday as Red Mountain made off with a 13-3 victory. With that win, the Mountain Lions brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Preston Peebles tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Red Mountain let Mathew Garcia and Derek Wilson run wild. Garcia scored four runs while going 2-for-2, while Wilson went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Wilson has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith Price, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Red Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pinnacle only posted an OBP of .296.
Meanwhile, Desert Ridge might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Campo Verde who claimed the real prize. Desert Ridge fell just short of Campo Verde by a score of 4-2. The game marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Kelton Floan put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Floan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Red Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Desert Ridge, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Red Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Desert Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
