The First Baptist Academy Lions will stay at home for another week and welcome the Trinity Catholic Celtics at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
First Baptist Academy extended their postseason success on Friday against Moore Haven. They blew past the Terriers, posting a 35-0 victory at home. Given First Baptist Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Moore Haven is ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
First Baptist Academy can attribute much of their success to Winston Watkins jr., who gained 86 total yards and three touchdowns, and Sam Sparacio, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Trinity Catholic's offense rose to the challenge against a Hustlers defense that boasted an average of only 14.58 points allowed. Everything went Trinity Catholic's way against Melbourne Central Catholic on Friday as Trinity Catholic made off with a 38-14 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Trinity Catholic.
Among those leading the charge was Austin Holder, who rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Preston Wright ?25, who threw for 270 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt.
First Baptist Academy pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.67 points. As for Trinity Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.
First Baptist Academy strolled past Trinity Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 21-3. Does First Baptist Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trinity Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
