St. Michael the Archangel lost to Lafayette County back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Guardians came out on top against the Huskers by a score of 6-2. The win was familiar territory for the Guardians, who have now won four games in a row.

Gage Burgess looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Michael the Archangel let Griffin Moses and Maverick Cure run wild. Moses got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and one run, while Cure scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That triple marked the first that Moses hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Morehead, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI.

St. Michael the Archangel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

St. Michael the Archangel's record now sits at 8-3. As for Lafayette County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

St. Michael the Archangel and Lafayette County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Guardians (ranked 72nd) will meet Van Horn (ranked 322nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lafayette County will challenge Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (135 vs. 341).
