Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
John Mobley Jr. of
Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant) is the 2023-24 Utah MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot senior guard led the Tigers to a 17-7 record and the No. 8 ranking in the National Top 10 at the time of his selection.
For the season, Mobley averaged 21.5 points, 5.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. He tallied a season-high 34 points to go along with six assists in a 70-65 victory over Legacy Early College (Greenville, S.C.) earlier this month.
