Franklin moved up to 159 from 218 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in A Eastern. The Broncos were able to make the jump by beating Rappahannock 31-28.
West Point extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Surry County, 31-30. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
West Point's dynamic duo of Robert "Mikey" Anerton and Seth Hatcher proved tough for the Cougars to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Anerton threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns and Hatcher had 132 yards receiving. Montel Allen helped West Point's passing attack out by catching four balls for 73 yards.
Terry Reed made the biggest impact on defense this week as Middlesex lost to Charles City. The 5-foot-8 freshman recorded one fumble and grabbed one sack.
Tre Burtt was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 181 yards on 27 carries as Nottoway defeated Surry County. Teammate Johnny Coombs added to the ground attack by rushing for 90 yards.
The Pointers' Anerton and Hatcher have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A Eastern in both passing and receiving yards. Anerton has thrown for 951 yards this season, while Hatcher, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 20 catches for 354 yards. The Cougars' Burtt leads the league in rushing yards with 673.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Franklin takes on West Point. At the moment, Darren Parker's team is in fourth, while the Pointers are in first.
Bluestone was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 44th to 31st in the league. The Barons beat the Barons 21-13 earlier in the week.
