Valley Forge and Fairview are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Patriots will head out to take on the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Forge has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 21 straight defeats, while Fairview will come in with three straight wins.
Valley Forge fell victim to Lorain and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 10-0 to the Titans.
Valley Forge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Tappe, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Tappe's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Fairview never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Brooklyn. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly ten runs.
Burke Lowry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Lowry was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cal Reis, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Fairview's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Shomon, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
