The Port Aransas Marlins came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Woodsboro on the road to the tune of 57-28. Given Port Aransas' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 661st, while Woodsboro is ranked 1426th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodsboro's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaqulynn Tully, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kira Meacham, who scored five points along with two steals.
Port Aransas pushed their record up to 21-8 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Woodsboro, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 18 of their last 21 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-24 record this season.
Port Aransas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Woodsboro also has no future games currently scheduled.
