The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies are taking a road trip to square off against the Moody Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Hewitt-Trussville turned things around against Chelsea on Saturday. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 10-5. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Corey Goguts was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run. Ava Hyde also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Hewitt-Trussville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Moody, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against John Carroll Catholic on Monday as Moody made off with an 11-1 win. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.
Chloe Phillips looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Moody got a massive performance out of Kendall Trimm, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Trimm has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Kile, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Moody's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their record now sits at 4-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hewitt-Trussville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Moody struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hewitt-Trussville beat Moody 5-2 when the teams last played back in February of 2019. Will Hewitt-Trussville repeat their success, or does Moody have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
