Landstown is 8-2 against Salem since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Eagles will host the Sundevils at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Landstown will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Tallwood, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over the Lions on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophie Bloodworth looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adalyn Stumler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriella Perez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
Landstown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem). They blew past King's Fork 20-2 on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Sundevils as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.
The win got Landstown back to even at 8-8. As for Salem, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.
Everything went Landstown's way against Salem in their previous matchup back in March, as Landstown made off with a 13-0 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Sundevils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
