South Aiken is 2-8 against North Augusta since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The South Aiken Thoroughbreds will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Augusta Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
South Aiken fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Aiken on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Green Hornets. While losing is never fun, South Aiken can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Aiken is ranked 60th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Tyler Nipper, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Javarse Houston, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, North Augusta scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Midland Valley 84-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win North Augusta has posted yet this season.
This is the second loss in a row for South Aiken and nudges their season record down to 4-17. As for North Augusta, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
South Aiken was taken down by North Augusta 77-38 in their previous meeting on January 5th. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point South Aiken was down 42-14.
