Softball Recap: Carlson Has No Trouble Against Taylor

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Roosevelt, Carlson was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Taylor Griffins 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Ava Vasas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Dunwoody, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Carlson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Carlson now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Taylor, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Coming up, Carlson will square off against Walled Lake Western at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Taylor, they will venture away from home to face off against Inter-City Baptist at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.75 runs per game on average), something the Griffins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
