Basketball Recap: Jamauri Cannady Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Northwest Halifax

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tarboro, North Edgecombe was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Northwest Halifax Vikings with a sharp 62-36 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Edgecombe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamauri Cannady, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Cannady a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Nyzir Mills, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

North Edgecombe's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Northwest Halifax, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Edgecombe will challenge Northampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwest Halifax, they will face off against KIPP P at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in KIPP P's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
