The Niwot Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 76-42 defeat at the hands of Thompson Valley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Niwot in their matchups with Thompson Valley: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Niwot saw an underclassman step up: LT Lehman scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lehman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rohit Das, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Brady Kennison was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five assists and four steals for Thompson Valley. Kennison is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Shideler, who scored 15 points.
Niwot dropped their record down to 4-14 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Thompson Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Niwot will take on Frederick at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Niwot focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday. As for Thompson Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thompson Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Skyline likes a good challenge.
