Basketball Recap: Tempe Prep Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Tempe Prep put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Arete Prep CHARGERS by a score of 52-45. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 48-42 win the CHARGERS walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

Tempe Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Sampson, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The contest was Sampson's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Milner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Tempe Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Arete Prep had strong showings from Crew Oetjen, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 23 rebounds, and Harrison Kremer, who posted 23 points. That was a full 48.9% of Arete Prep's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Tempe Prep pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.2 points. As for Arete Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Tempe Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-34 victory against Chandler Prep on the 9th. As for Arete Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-63 loss against Veritas Prep on the 11th.
