After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chamblee, the M.L. King Lions were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over Decatur. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
M.L. King got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alika Daugherty out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. Daugherty has been hot recently, having posted seven or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janaya Williams, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
M.L. King's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Decatur, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
M.L. King will head out on the road to challenge Decatur at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Daugherty and Dejah Raine. As for Decatur, they will be playing at home against M.L. King at 6:00 p.m.
