After a string of nine wins, the Fulshear Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Bend Hightower. Fulshear lost against Fort Bend Hightower in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 47-31 score last time.
Fulshear's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ruke Ogbevire, who scored 17 points. Ogbevire scored a full 50% of Fulshear's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Semmler, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Fulshear's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Fort Bend Hightower, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fulshear will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lamar Consolidated at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Lamar Consolidated will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1141st, while Fulshear is ranked 65th). As for Fort Bend Hightower, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Bend Dulles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
