MaxPreps National Team of the Week (Boys) - Houston Aldine, Texas
Aldine (32-1) won its 24th game in a row game Saturday, getting by Cypress Creek, 62-44, to advance to the Class 5A Region II quarterfinals.
Texas-bound forward Gary Johnson, averaging 26.4 points and 13.4 rebounds per game this season, paced the Mustangs against Cypress Creek with 29 points.
Aldine also defeated Houston Chavez, 58-54, Thursday in bi-district action behind 20 from Johnson.
The Mustangs, No. 6 in this week's MaxPreps Texas rankings, will meet Houston Madison this week for an opportunity to reach the regional semifinals at the Campbell Center in Houston.
