The Meek Tigers will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Winston County Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meek has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Meek came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-2 to Lynn. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered against the Bears since March 3, 2021.
Meek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Benson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Conner Lane was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases.
Meanwhile, Winston County came up short against Addison on Saturday, falling 15-5. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dillyn Chancey and Eli Green stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chancey went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI, while Green scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That double was Chancey's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chris Clemons, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Winston County now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Meek, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Meek has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Winston County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Meek suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Winston County in their previous matchup last Saturday. Can Meek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
