The Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Bedford Bisons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Bellwood-Antis put up the most points they have all season on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Glendale a 19-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Blue Devils, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Killian Worthing made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Bellwood-Antis got a massive performance out of Cam Swogger, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Swogger has become a key player for the Blue Devils: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Zach Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Bellwood-Antis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bedford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Bishop McCort with a sharp 14-4 victory on Tuesday. The Bisons not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024.
Gabe Taylor spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Owen Taylor was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Tedrow, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Bedford's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Bellwood-Antis, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.
Bedford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bellwood-Antis has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. It's a different story for Bedford, though, as they've only averaged .344. Will they be able to contain Bellwood-Antis' hitters?
Bellwood-Antis skirted past Bedford 6-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
