The Carlisle County Comets will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Mayfield Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Carlisle County was able to grind out a solid victory over Paducah Tilghman, taking the game 59-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Carlisle County.
Carlisle County can attribute much of their success to Macee Hogancamp, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Kiera Whitaker, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Whitaker has scored at least 25% of Carlisle County's points. Another player making a difference was Jazz Smith, who scored 4 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 steals.
Meanwhile, Mayfield had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 63-52 victory over Paducah Tilghman.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Carlisle County's victory pushed their record up to 2-0, while Paducah Tilghman's loss dropped theirs down to 0-2.
Carlisle County couldn't quite finish off Mayfield when the teams last played back in February and fell 51-48. Will Carlisle County have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
