On Thursday, Atchison made easy work of Wyandotte and carried off a 17-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Phoenix, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Leighton Boldridge made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Boldridge was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kolten Bonnel and Hank Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Bonnel went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Harris went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Yogi Purdy was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Atchison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyandotte only posted an OBP of .250.
Five must be Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy's lucky number: they beat Atchison County with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Ravens beat the Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Atchison's victory bumped their record up to 14-0-2. As for Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
