The Southside Tigers pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The contest between them and Wren wasn't particularly close, with Southside falling 80-62. While losing is never fun, Southside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Wren is ranked 23rd).
Wren's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Cherry, who scored 23 points along with six assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cherry has scored all season. Abijah Franklin was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Southside has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Wren, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-5.
Southside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wren also has no future games currently scheduled.
