NEWBURY PARK, Calif. - Special teams carried
St. Bonaventure (Ventura, Calif.) to a 43-7 victory over Newbury Park (Calif.) on Saturday as the return units contributed one touchdowns. The special teams of the Seraphs scored on a kick return.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Ricky Town to
Bryce Dixon in the first quarter, St. Bonaventure was up 29-0 at the half.
SB expanded its lead to 62 points entering the fourth quarter. The Ventura school scored three times in the third, including once on a Town touchdown pass to
Lavan Alston.
Town was one of the biggest factors in St. Bonaventure's victory, as the junior threw five touchdowns.
Newbury Park's only touchdown came on a 46-yard pass from undefined to Jacob Pace in the third quarter.
The Panthers came in allowing just 16.7 points per game this season. St. Bonaventure came in allowing an average of 27.0 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding Newbury Park well below its season average of 25.7 points scored per game.
Newbury Park (4-4) goes up against Simi Valley in a Marmonte - East game matchup next week, while St. Bonaventure (5-3) locks horns with Royal also in a Marmonte - East game.
