Basketball Recap: Forest Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Forest had won three straight home games dating back to last season and Ja'Niyah McCoy did her part to make it four on Thursday. The Forest Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Vanguard Knights 57-54 thanks in part to McCoy, who went 11 of 15 on her way to 27 points and three steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 17 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Janaina Wess, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and five steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played.

Despite the loss, Vanguard still got an impressive performance from Sanaria Gunsby, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Kenaria Dowdy was another key player, putting up seven points.

Forest has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Vanguard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Forest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 68-65 win against Palm Harbor University on the 13th. As for Vanguard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-9 victory against South Sumter on the 13th.
