Basketball Recap: Howard Piles Up the Points Against Newark

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Howard). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Newark Yellowjackets 91-26. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 63-14.

Howard was led to victory by Nick Baysah and Ameer Anderson. Baysah went 7 of 13 en route to 24 points and six rebounds, while Anderson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 boards. The dominant performance gave Baysah a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Brown, who posted 12 points.

Howard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The victory got Howard back to even at 2-2. As for Newark, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Howard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 78-28 win against Academy for College and Career Exploration on the 27th. As for Newark, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Odessa at 5:15 p.m. on January 3rd. One thing working in Odessa's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
