Basketball Recap: Bryant Gamez Key Part of Team Effort in White Tigers Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Varsity Opponent, Vaughn was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 58-45 win over the Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology Griffins. For the White Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 52-45 victory the Griffins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Vaughn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryant Gamez, who posted 11 points and eight steals. With that strong performance, Gamez is now averaging an impressive 3.2 steals per game. Ruben Herrera was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Vaughn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Vaughn's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Vaughn will challenge Verdugo Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology, they will be taking part in a tournament against Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
