Merrimack Valley - Division 1 recap November 19, 2013
Central Catholic extended the longest winning streak in Merrimack Valley - Division 1 this week by beating Everett, 20-15. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Raiders.
Billerica Memorial led the league in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on Malden Catholic.
Lowell's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brian Dolan threw for 188 and 2 touchdowns and Jack Galvin had 82 yards receiving. On the ground Ngaiiva Mason contributed 129 yards. Keagan Latta helped Lowell's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 56 yards.
He was 14-20 with 0 interceptions.
Oliver Eberth was a passing and rushing force as Andover bested Chelmsford. He completed 13 passes for 189 yards and also ran for 128 yards. Eberth's favorite target this week was Cam Davey, who caught 3 passes for 68 yards.
Mason was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 129 yards as the Red Raiders defeated Acton-Boxborough. Dolan also contributed to the rushing game with 52 yards on the ground.
Lowell's Dolan and Galvin led Merrimack Valley - Division 1 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Dolan has thrown for 1,432 yards this season, while Galvin has 48 catches for 671 yards. Jack Sylvester from the Golden Warriors leads the league in rushing with 770 yards.
Andover made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,043 from 3,584. The improvement was the result of a 26-14 victory over the Lions last week.
