Baseball Recap: Melrose Has No Trouble Against Floyd

Melrose won the last time they faced Floyd and things went their way on Thursday too. The Buffaloes blew past the Broncos 28-1. The Buffaloes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.

Ty Windham was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Melrose got a massive performance out of Nolan Devaney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Devaney a new career-high. Cy Draper was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Melrose and bumps their season record up to 11-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.5 runs over those games. As for Floyd, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

As of now, neither Melrose nor the Broncos have any future games scheduled.
